Often, when I (f39) meet a man through mutual friends in a social setting (mostly art and music world), I have conversation with them.
It's never really intimate or personal topics, I may crack jokes, discuss arts or music, work etc. If they are a renowned artist or personality I may ask about their art etc.
Most of the time, soon after, they find me on social media and ask me out or start to message me several times in a day. This creates awkwardness, especially as these people are a stable part of my free time environment. To me, it's networking and I have no further interest.
I wonder if there's anything I do that might give them an impression of availability? I am clueless.
