Confused about the boy 35M I 30F like?

I(30/f) work with a man (35/m), but I'm finding hard to understand if he likes me back . I'll work there only for this year. Sometimes we find each other at the bus stop and travel together to work, and when we do so we talk a lot. He makes a lot of silly jokes to make me smile, the last few days he told me he find appearance very important, I told him that looks are important but also being smart and interesting, after that I was feeling a little bit down and another coworker told me "Don't worry he's just messing around". The other day he came to my computer to help me even so he had lots of work to do. I don't know if he's being friendly or interested. What can I do? I don't want to confront him if I'm not sure, but I want to be closer to him/get to know him better. I know he's looking for a girlfriend because he told everyone in the group (we eat lunch with 5 people), and that he's looking for something serious. He also told me that he doesn't believe in friendship between female-male, but he's acting friendly.
