I told myself that by the end of the month, I was going to ask out my friend.

Bit of backstory here, we’ve known each other since college and I always had a thing for them. We went on a couple dates back then, but when they started dating another person I withdrew. We’ve stayed in contact, off and on, but only recently have started hanging out regularly. I learned that they’re in an open relationship, and I even believe they’ve been dropping hints about wanting me to ask them out. I’m fairly confident that if I manage to get the words out, they’ll probably say yes.

The thing is, I can’t manage to get the words out. I haven’t asked someone out in a LONG time, and I’m still getting used to talking to this person who I’ve built up so much in my head in the past. Does anyone have any advice on ways I can prepare myself so that I actually get the question out?
