Whenever I'm talking to people in a group, it sort of feels like I am left behind and sort of forgotten. I try to join their conversations with related topics and ideas and continue the conversation but I usually get, "Oh yeah Chuck, that's true (or something related to the thing), but hey John about that…". It sort of feels like whatever I try just doesn't work.

And whenever I am in a talk with just one other person, it always feels like a one sided conversation with me at the helm. I bring up relevant topics and ideas and initiate talks but all I get in response is mundane, uninterested answers, sort of like the person feels obligated to talk to me as to not seem weird. I try to respond to them and continue the conversation, but I always get similar, uninterested responses. But whenever someone else joins the conversation, it feels like all the attention is going to them and the two other people have an interesting talk while I just sit in the back hoping to join.

This post is not a rant, I'm just looking for advice on how to prevent things like this and have conversations that are engaging for the other person too and make them want to talk to me. I was shut out from a lot of conversations in my early school years so I never really had a true understanding of conversing with people my age, but I want to fix it.
