So in the states if you were a rock fan you had two options. Korm/slipknot/limp bizkit style nu-metal, or my chemical romance/fall out boy/paramore style emo.

But over here it seems the most popular genre of rock was indie/garage . Stuff like franz ferdinand, the fratelliis, kaiser chiefs

Basically if you heard a rock song in the background of a show in the early 2000s. It sounded like something you'd hear in a pub.

So was this the only popular form of rock music at the time over here or was it a third pillar alongside emo and nu-metal?
