Does it make a difference to support European companies in other countries?

I really like how Europe especially EU countries do things. I really respect how there is so much emphasis on individuals being able to have dignity, human rights and look after them with things like healthcare and education. I try to support European companies from here in the U.S. I don’t only buy European (and sometimes it isn’t an option)… but I’ll often try to go out of my way to buy from companies that are European. Are these corporations largely crooked like in the U.S. or does it actually help the average EU citizen? Thoughts?
