I'm a high school student who thinks the idea of walking up to someone I find interesting and striking up a conversation to be daunting. My next best choice is to attempt to build rapport online by texting the other person, but often what happens is the conversation quickly gets one-sided. Even if the other person seems to show interest, they don't text me on their own time, only to reply to my messages, which means if I stop messaging them the conversation screeches to a halt. Why does this happen, and what can I do to be worth talking to?
