I get why in the abstract Heads of Departments, Ambassadors, special counsels, etc matter but aren't they effective slaves to Congress?
So why should it matter so much who gets chosen as The Secretary of Defence for example?
Edit:- A lot of responses are pointing out that they arent slaves to congress but to the Presidency. Which is why I'm asking again, why are these posts so important?
