I moved to the US some months ago and, at first, I was quite pleased by the nutritional facts on the label of every edible item. We have kind of the same in Europe, but it does not attract the eye that much.

Still, after some months I started wondering whether those labels make any actual sense. Like, 50g of pasta is a portion (while it should be 80-100g depending on the person), one tuna steak is a full portion, three Oreo’s are a portion but then… a 2L Coca Cola has only SIX portions in it? Two full size cookies with smarties and marshmallows constitute a single portion? How are those comparable to three Oreo’s?

Not trying to be an ass, I’m just genuinely startled at how unbalanced some items are. Who does regulate those labels?
