Where do bigger than “average size” but smaller than “big & tall” guys go to buy pants?

  1. More size options online. If you’re talking dress pants, you can always go to suit store and have pants tailored.

  2. Depends on what kind of pants. Some work brands like Carhartt have a wide range. Online will have wider selection, as another person in this thread mentions.

For dress clothes, most pants can be tailored up or down. Buy slightly larger and chop down from there.

If I remember correct a good tailor can take about two inches out of a pair of pants but I would definitely ask one before buying any. Ultimately, if you are buying dress clothes, buy ones nice enough to have tailoring services available on-site. You will get better quality clothes that will last longer.

For cheap ass slacks, go with an elastic belt.

  3. I am tall, 6 ft 6 in, but not “big” but I also work out so I have an ass and chest.

For jeans I go with Levi’s athletic/stretch jeans… 541 and one other 5xx. If you look at them online they’ll say athletic fit. They probably will have something that works for you.

For shirts, I have been going with Gymshark lately.

Spend a little more, it’s worth it.

  4. You should know your belt size and in seam length based on your favorite pair of pants. Then you have to search for that size on a shelf. They usually count up going from left to right.

    What are you, stupid?

  5. If you’re not a fan of ordering online, try outlet malls if you have them in your area. There’s usually a bunch of different name brand stores, and so you can try on lots of different brands and styles.

  6. Your local cowboy store. I’m 6’1 and skinny, it’s hard to find 30×34 pants unless you are buying western wear. The reason is that cowboys like longer pants so they cover boots so there is more availability.

  7. Be more descriptive about your title.

I’m 5’8 190lbs 34 inch waist. I feel like I fit your description exactly and I shop at regular stores. The hardest thing for pants is finding the right length since nearly everything in my waist size is made with a 32 inch inseam, which is too long for me.

But there’s plenty of options. I go to any department store and can find something for myself. Big big fan of Paige jeans.

  8. Honestly I use clothing apps like poshmark and mercari to find pieces.

  9. In my experience, big and tall stores go as low as 36, and regular department stores go to at least 42. That should cover you, OP.

  10. The same places. The trick is after you get the pants you get them tailored. Pay the tailor tax on all your clothes.
