Friend coming from out of town alone without prior planning

Hi – my friend from college is flying back to our college town where I still live, by themself for vacation. I'm not sure if he's planning to see anyone else and it's normally a group trip. I am working and have a party to go to. We haven't done a great job keeping up and I don't think it's my role to entertain him all trip. Feeling anxious. Plus one not really a thing at this party. I'm also an introvert and not up to a whole social hostess week. How do I keep a respectful distance without being rude? The trip wasn't really discussed.
