Am I entitled to monetary compensation if I get fired or quit from an American job?

In my country severance payment after getting fired or quitting is mandated by the law, it's usually 1 or 2 months of payment per year of employment if you get fired and a smaller amount if you quit, but I work for an American entrepreneur online as a Virtual Assistant and I was wondering if I'm entitled to this same benefit by law.
