Do you want your partner carrying a knife for self defense? What are your reasons for feeling this way?

I (32F) go back and forth carrying a blade with me while I do deliveries, especially at night. I always keep my mace in my hand, mostly as a deterrent. However, I only have so many hands and I feel like a more lethal weapon is going to escalate the situation or just be taken and used against me.
