Is losing your virginity really a big deal

Hi I’m 23(f) I just turned 23 and I’m still a virgin. Most of my late teen yrs I was waiting till I get a bf to give up my virginity but that never happened and now that I’m in my 20’s I sort just want to at least connect with someone, but date right now it a bit hard when you are someone like me who is a bit shy and a little scared to talk to boys. I’m working on the talking part. Mostly when I go out with friends, anyways now I’m just thinking is losing your virginity really that big of a deal to wait for someone or can I just meet up with someone from hinge or like bumble. Of course with mutual understanding on both ends. I don’t know I would just like opinion if I thinking about this to much. Because I want to have s*x but im just scared of all the bad possibilities that can come with it afterwards.
