I started thinking about what makes a system bad and it dawned on me that it is often counterproductive design elements which would argue that they are only as bad as those poor design elements. I started thinking about the expectations involved and realized with poor design elements the expectations will always magnify the problem. Take the dating concept that males date appearance and females date a pocket on the surface this seems like it only impacts any given interaction but unfortunately those ethical enough to break from this norm are compared against this norm. Which will magnify the impact of the counterproductive design. Another example is employment when an employer turns someone down for working at a company with a poor culture under the pretense that the culture will be held by all employees it is assumed that this only influences the current company in existence but this expectation literally forces people to change entire field to break this cycle which is a far more damaging response.

After all of the above considerations I am starting to question why so many decisions are only made at surface level without really any depth?

I really want to understand the appeal of surface level thinking so I can better relate to society as a whole since I see it for what it is and this makes me misunderstood and I would rather be understood!
