We have been together for about 3 years. So me (21F) and my SO (26M)’s family, we have a language barrier, and I don’t expect them to cater to me. They do speak English well but not fluent. And I only know some words in their language as I’m still trying to learn. Usually, I just let them talk and if I’m really curious, I would ask my bf what it is that they are talking about. Today during dinner, my bf asked me to sit at the corner cause he was worried I might be awkward in the middle. Fine. Then the entire time, everyone was talking, his body was turned away towards his family. I felt so isolated. I just spent the entire dinner eating quietly and using my phone. His parents would check on me once or twice, which I really appreciated but went back to chatting among themselves.
When we get together with my family, I always translate what we are talking about to him. Today made me feel so left out. So any advice to move on from it or make it better?

TL;DR: I feel left out by my SO family during dinner functions
