I’ve made some friends who act extremely close and friendly with me irl and even invite me to hang out. They’re really joke-y and fun, very easy and chill to be with.

However, their online messages are really dry and straight to the point. It’s hard to carry a convo with them online coz they give singular replies and don’t converse much. I’m definitely friendly online as well, I act friendly as I do online and irl, and sometimes I even throw in an emoji or two.

Is it weird if I continue being friendly and effusive with them online even if they don’t reciprocate this effort in my messages? Or should I take their dry messaging abilities as a sign that they don’t care about what I have to say online?
