I usually read on American media, like so many discussions here on Reddit, how difficult pet birds are and how demanding and involved their care is etc. Only later I realize that the default pet bird for the average American is a Ty of parrot, coincidentally one of the hardest birds. Why aren’t finches kept, that are popular in the rest of the world? They have beautiful songs too. Why not small doves or quail? How this parrot promotion started?
