I'm going to Manchester, and a split ticket is half the cost of a direct ticket. I've done this a few times on short journeys as usually there aren't any train inspectors. Can I get away with acting clueless or saying that my train was delayed if my ticket is checked? Will I get fined or just told to get on the right train.
