Hi guys,

Has anyone tried anything for helping remove dark circles around their eyes?

For context, I'm a white male, 33, over weight but not obese, moderately active(run 3x a week), diet is okay but not great, cut back on drinking since turning 30, fairly regular bed times and usually getting about 7 to 8 hours of average to above average quality sleep a night. I had a sepoplasty and turbinate trim last year which has drastically helped my sleep but still wake up a few times a night.

I know eye bags and dark circles can be based somewhat on genetics and lifestyle but ive tried changing diet, sleep and exercise without any success. Does anyone have any real world results from treatments/skin routines/anything else they are happy with?

Cheers

  1. I don’t have a fix for the eyes but have you considered leaning in to it and getting a widow’s peak?

  2. Holy shit r u me? Been trying to look for solutions like using the ordinary dark eye bag cream

  3. dark circles can be caused by various reasons:

    1) eye bags that cause shadows underneath. The fat pads protruding from under the eyes and the lighting above is what causes the shadows underneath. Not much can be done here re: fat pads other than a lower bleph procedure. I have this issue…..and I’m saving up for a lower bleph.

    2) deep set eyes aka you have deep tear troughs. You can use makeup to conceal; watch videos on YT on how to do that by using colour corrector and concealer.

    3) general thinning of the skin around the eye area, making the veins/capillaries show through. See #2.

    4) hyperpigmentation around the eyes. You can use a few things to help: [eye products](https://sukoshimart.com/products/beauty-of-joseon-revive-eye-serum-ginseng-retinal) that contain a low dose of retinol. I’ve also heard mixed reviews about [this eye serum.](https://theordinary.com/en-ca/caffeine-solution-5-egcg-eye-serum-100412.html?dwvar_100412_size=30ml&quantity=1&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwnqK1BhBvEiwAi7o0X4PrM3sanfQAzVTIiF5IIwLeZLrZ2KibLBjCX_Px2Vexd1sWYy7J-RoCuJ4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) Diet change — I find that a diet low in sugar and gluten reduces darkness in the skin in general; esp those who are prone to hyperpigmentation (I have this issue). When I went gluten free and low sugar, the darker areas on my face disappeared.

  4. I’ve been using Lumin Dark Circle Defense for a few months now. Just put it on before bed. Idk, it seems like it’s working

  5. If you’re needing an alarm to wake up you’re not getting enough sleep.

That’s step 1. Step 2 is cleanup your diet and lose the weight.

You’ve made changes to both but still aren’t sleeping enough or eating right. Make more changes

  6. Unrelated: How was the turbenite reduction? I’m thinking of having it but wasn’t sure if ut was worth it.

  7. Genetics for me. If you look at my grandfather and my dad in pictures we all have it.

I never notice it in the mirror but always shows up in photos.

Old pics of my grandfather looks like he has two full on black eyes.

  8. Get on the 10 step Korean skin care routine.

Eye cream, I use the beauty of Joseon one.

  9. Nope, mine are genetic. I have a good diet, get blood tests yearly, iron is good and I have decent sleep habits.

Concealer is an easy way to minimize them and it takes less than 30 seconds a day to do. No concealer will completely hide them, but it can make a big difference.

  10. If you spend lots of time in front of screens that can help cause bags as well.

  11. Quitting alcohol, quitting caffeine 100% (yes, seriously), getting checked for sleep apnea. If none help, making 100% sure your jaws are not recessed.
