On another sub, a person posted about how they were struggling to eat fresh food on a budget of $272 (around £215) I spend a little more on groceries per month, around £250 and manage to have a diet predominantly filled with fresh fruit and vegetables. A good chunk of my budget £40 is spend on water, coffee and squash/cordial. So really I only spend around £210 on actual food. This person was struggling even to make fresh tomato sauce and pasta which would cost less than £1.5/$2 to make in UK.

Got me thinking how expensive is food in America? How much do you spend and how many of you are there?

Edit- This post wasn't meant to cause offense, genuine question out of curiosity
