Correct me if I am wrong but French revolution is considered as one of the most decisive events in how the nation states would take form. Shouldn't it be the American independence against a monarchy that actually gave way to much more democratic states and parliamentary systems? Wasn't it the actual reason behind French having the courage to stand against the powerful?
Or maybe it is given more importance in my part of the world?
