I feel like a side character. I have 1 friend that is a perfect example of this, he always asks to hangout just to talk about himself and how much girls want him and how he is so strong and hot (he literally sends me mirror pictures of himself saying) "oh my hair looks good today." OR he always mentions how much people he has added on snapchat and how many people view his story. Whenever i try to talk about myself he ignores it or he brings the story back to himself.
Ex: BRO I GOT A HAIRCUT LOOK FaceTimes me "wow it looks SICK I told you it was abt time"
Me: BRO I GOT A HAIRCUT
Him: Ignores OR "Nice." OR "You need to get the hair i got to have perfect hair like me"
He usually says Nice, and then asks to hangout just to talk about himself some more.
One day he had a crisis he called me crying I was the ONLY one there from him out of the 200 snapchat "friends" . I helped him and talked with him gave him advice. And guess what. Ignored all my advice and instead uses the crisis as a sympathy card and was telling all the girls about it saying "yeah I'm a bit soft too I'm not always tough" and they fell for it being like "Aww, it's okay don't worry" then he uses it as a flex.
And for some odd reason whenever I hangout it's 1 on 1, but if I can't hangout he invites all my friends and sends me snaps about how much fun their having to make Me jealous, basically if we hangout it's always 1 on 1 because he knows I'm the only person who will deal with him and listen
I don't know what to do tbh he is manipulative now thinking of it. He will say some nice things about me 1 on 1 but when it comes to rarely hanging as a group he will bring me down all the time. He is a 'only child' which might explain why he needs a lot of attention because most times I've met them they usually are very manipulative and narcissistic.
And If I cut him off or I tell him the truth he will find away to exaggerate and make my friends dislike me and make my time in highschool a living mess with all the "friends" he has. (I'm 14 btw)
What do I do? I dont want to be known as the side character and the "Nice guy" I actually want to gain respect and to have a equal friendship
