When my Dad was in New York in 1989 did the city still have ridiculously high crime rates; among other things he got to see the police chasing a bank robber inside the Metropolitan Museum. But during the 1990s did the crime rates as I understand it go down dramatically, and I want to ask you why? Was it simply the policing getting harsher, gentrification or is there other reasons?
