I (M20) have an online girlfriend (F20) and we've been together for more than a year. We've met online and started to like each other only through texting.

Now that we're in a relationship, I thought of ways for us to know each other more by calling, playing games, and watching movies together but she doesn't seem to communicate much with me when I'm asking for us to call.

On our first calls, she was the one who usually talked while I was typing because I'm not too comfortable at that time and I'm insecure with the way I speak. (I only did this for a few weeks). But now, when I initiate calls, I'll be the only one speaking, while she's typing. It gets hard for me sometimes because she types slow, so there's awkward silences and I don't feel like we're bonding at all.

For me, I think speaking with each other is much more important in an LDR relationship than just texting because I feel like we can't communicate effectively with each other with just texting, plus it's convenient because I can do what I'm supposed to do without touching my phone.

This annoys me because I think our relationship is not progressing. It feels stagnant.

I'm also starting to doubt if we really liked each other in the first place because we've only texted that time. I'm also doubting if will we ever meet up in the future because I feel like she's contented with where we are right now.

This is my first relationship so it's really hard for me.

TL;DR: My relationship with my gf feels stagnant because we don't do calls often but when we do she doesn't speak and I'm starting to doubt if we really like each other in the first place because we only texted before we started dating each other.

  1. Have you ever seen each other? Facetime? Zoom? If you haven’t after a year, I don’t think it’s going to move forward.
