I heard that there is silicon pieces to add to your bra but i think it can make you hot. I was curious to see what options are out there including creative home-made options.

  1. Prosthesis. I tried implants but I was so worried about them leaking I was afraid to do anything.

  2. I’ve had breast cancer and a mastectomy on one side, my reconstruction isn’t until next year (diep flap on both sides planned, no implants) so until then I wear a prosthetic breast on my left side to look balanced. I have several kinds. My boob size is D/DD.

The knitted knockers are… OK, acceptable in a pinch but they need to be topped up with stuffing over time, and their shape isn’t the greatest. They collect lots of lint. I don’t use them anymore.

I needle felted a boob for myself upon getting frustrated with the first knit one and still waiting for the right size prosthetic to come in at the clinic. I made it an exact match for the other boob shape when in my favorite unlined bra. I wrapped it in nylon stocking material so it’s not itchy. It’s not hot with the nylon on. Can’t wear it in water. I have to pin it in place so it doesn’t shift weirdly, and it doesn’t bounce, but I still use it often. 100% recommend this for the diy approach, get the exact shape you want.

I have one of those squishy synthetic gel-like beige boobs. It is the one I wear most often, it works better in my underwire bras for shape. It can get very sweaty. I can wear it in water but I can’t pin it in my swimsuit (got a high necked one for modesty). These feel the most natural.

I have a bead-filled swim boob – it’s decently malleable to make the right shape in a bra, can be pinned inside a swimsuit and it drains well. It’s alright, the mesh is breathable but it’s not super comfy. I use it less often.

And then sometimes I forget to grab a prosthetic and have to just stuff my one bra side with whatever I have handy… a kid’s stuffie, a scrunched up shopping bag, my knitting…
