Potentially going to my first football match at the end of the month what to expect?

I'm potentially going to my first proper football match at the end of the month, looking forward to it as I have wanted to go to one since I was a kid. What should I expect? What are the do's and donts? I know I want to buy a beer and a hotdog I think
