How can people make small talk with people you encounter in places you go often but only like an hour once a week?

There’s a lot of people I know that I would consider “street-smart” because they make small talk with random people they encounter in different places, like in a café or a barbershop. I’m nice, but I’m not able to do a small talk at all. Not that I care that much, but I do think “am I in the wrong?”.
