Making friends naturally without asking to be friends

Ive genuinely asked ppl to be friends before on social media then i realized how u dont have those skills. When I was younger I had this idea to send a series of funny memes in a row as a way to make friends but I realized I probably couldnt do that now because Ive grown shyer. Its just so difficult these days as an adult trying to make friends, especially if people already have a lot of friends they dont really want to include you, I'm not sure how to go about it.
