If I message a guy good luck at the end of school and ask him about the band we like despite never talking to him, would he assume I like him?

I do have a crush on him but I’ve got no intention of telling him this before hopefully becoming friends. I’ve never spoken to him in the two years of being there and I’m wanting to message him to wish him luck on the last day over Microsoft Teams. I just hope he doesn’t automatically assume that I like him from this. I’ve noticed we’ve got quite a bit in common from the music he’s into when I’ve heard him talk about it
