I went on a first date last week where we spoke for maybe 5 hours, and have a second date coming up. This was someone I met through Hinge.
This was my first time going on a date with an English girl. I noticed that when I got the first round of drinks I paid (which is fine) and then later in the night, I asked if she wanted another drink and I paid again, which is fine too. We got the second round of drinks maybe an hour after finishing the first round.
Of course, drinks are expensive these days, so for the next date I tried to organise something which is free, like a hike, and she seems happy to do it. We're both 25. It was a little strange as she never offered to pay in the first date (though she is unemployed right now)
Got me wondering what the etiquette is these days, as in is it normal for guys to pay for everything in the first date, or perhaps even the first 3 dates or something, then split after, or more common to say alternate each time? I'm tempted to ask her to plan the 3rd or 4th date to see what happens.
I know culture around this varies a lot between countries but wondering what it most common in England.
