A few months back I started collecting songs that are specifically associated with certain places. I made a map out of it. In particular, I like hearing the story behind the songs I listen to, so I'd love to hear it.
As an example, the songs most associated with Ghent are Mia by Gorki and 't Vliegerke by Karel Waeri. The first is by a singer who spent most of his time here. One line from the song, "Niemand gaat verloren" (trad. "No one will be lost"), is written on a big mural of the singer in the city. The second song is about a kid playing with his kite in the city. On the map, there's a few more, but I want some more from around Europe.
