So my husband (28M) & I (25F) have been together for about 6 years & married for 2. About 2 years into our relationship we both gained weight, I was already a pretty heavy girl but he was very active & didn’t have a belly, so seeing his body change significantly in 2 years definitely made him less confident. He went up about 2 sizes & is an XL now & deals with gynecomastia & usually feels pretty uncomfortable in clothes now due to his “man boobs”, I want to get him clothes he can feel confident in but are also stylish for our age. Now I know of plenty of options for plus sized women but I’m not finding many options for plus sized men dealing with gynecomastia so I’m here today to ask the men of the interwebs to please help me make my husband feel handsome & stylish again by giving some recommendations when it comes to clothing or concealing man boobs. I am a schoolteacher so I don’t make much so please don’t recommend an $100 shirt lol

  1. Button down shirts are your best friend.

I used to be about 250lbs, and had the same insecurities.

I found that wearing black clothing, and button down shirts worked the best.

They were the most comfortable, and the fabric didn’t make the contour visible.

Most of them I got for between $15-$30 per shirt. A few were more expensive, but those were better materials.

  2. I have pretty mild gyno but its still a pain in the ass.

Honestly, t-shirts are kinda out of the question for me. No matter the size, I feel self conscious in them. It’s all about button downs for me. In a light cotton button down shirt you can’t really notice it at all. Especially when you keep the top few buttons undone and it shows more of the v-shape of the chest. Tank tops are great too, something about the cut seems to distract from it in a way that t-shirts dont.

  3. Would a compression shirt help? There’s lots at academy and amazon. I used a couple after my hernia surgery, some of these are really snug but still comfortable

  4. Gynecomastia is actual breast tissue. He needs to learn and check (or go to doc to get checked) to see if it’s actual breast tissue or just fat.

Anyway. Layers. A tight fitting undershirt and then a loose fitting top shirt like a OCBD. Typically with a pattern/multicolored will better camouflage than solid color. And shirt pockets can help hide moobs too.

  5. Of course the best answer is to address the cause which is the weight gain.
