Why did it hurt me ?

Hey, I'm a young man and my girlfriend recently left me. I did not ask myself this question before and I don't know why. So, my ex girlfriend and I were making out and she wanted to try to suck it but when she tried, it hurt me. Is that normal ? What did we do wrong ? It would be nice to know for later.
