For clarification, im from germany. Today i ate at a german restaurant, the food was brought to the table, it was excellent, the service was impeccable, everything was perfect. When the waiter came to collect, i pulled out my Card, she pulled out the card reader. No % of tipping preapplied, not even a window to select a percentage. I had to ask to tip. She took 10 real seconds before i could add a tip.
I came home, and opend Reddit. 3 posts about american tipping culture, and how fucked it is.
Is it really that bad that employees at coffe places look at you weirdly when you dont tip? Does it really happen that a tip is automatically applied?
