This is not a relationship post, but my wife has repeatedly brought up that I am not acting masculine enough in our marriage. She wants me to more typically embody the masculine so that she can embody the feminine.

The problem is, I have no idea what she's talking about. What is masculinity? I know what toxic masculinity is, but what is healthy masculinity? I was never taught this, I have not had male role models for the most part in my life.

So, naturally, I turn to reddit.

What is masculinity to you, and how do you balance it with feminism/equality? What is traditionally masculine (not looking to change my personality, I'm not going to start picking up a car project or start drinking beer and watching sports, that's not who I am but that's where my mind goes when talking about this) in your opinion?

How do you embrace masculine energy in the modern day to day?
