I met up with my girlfriend a week after she broken up with me to touch base and see if she made the right decision. We had been dating for 3 years and she initially broke up with me for lack of emotional connection.

However when we met up again, she burst into tears as soon as she saw me and telling me how she’s not doing well. She was telling me how she regretted her decision and how she realized how much she loved me and how happy she was with me but she is just struggling internally so much with loving herself.

For context, shes a first year resident in internal medicine and her job is very demanding on her mental health and it really stresses her out everyday. She told me the reason she broke up with me wasn’t because of lack of emotional connection but because she is so lost and confused about her life, her career, what she wants for the future and she doesn’t feel secure and loves herself enough that it’s hard to focus on her relationships with me and her friends. She is basically having a severe quarter life crisis. We are both 24.

I thought this reason was more valid because she does love me clearly and she even missed her graduation ceremony because of how sad she was. I want to give her some space so she can love herself again , but as of now we’re single. I love her alot but i want someone who knows what they want but i have invested so much into her and would love to be with her.

I would like some advice and hear outside perspective

TL:DR : girlfriend left due to her insecurity and regrets it, should i take her back?
