How would you like to be chatted to in a public park, if at all?

I live near a nice park and I often go, but I'm always alone. I don't have friends in my area and I often just go lie in the grass and talk on the phone or read. Occasionnally I see cute guys on their own too and I'd like to go say hey or bring a game of uno so we can play or something but I feel it would make me seem desperate? How would you like to be approached, if at all, in this context? I'm socially awkward if you can't tell. When I say approach, I don't necessarily mean in a dating context, more like just being friendly and seeing where it goes if I still like them when they open their mouth. I'd just like to know more people in my area.
