Friends not texting me first

Hi, I'm here looking for a helpful advice, I'll try to be as short as possible. I'm a college student and so are my friends, personally I'm someone introvert and a little social awkward but not rude. I've noticed from a year ago if I don't text them first they never talk to me, or end up leaving me hanging in a conversation, they're not rude to me, I mean I'm not stupid enough to befriend people who are not nice to me, but they also never ask me out anywhere, even though I asked one of them out and said 'some time later' they make plans with each other sometimes in front of me, I know they must have a busy schedule but so do I. Am I overreacting or what do I do?
