Hey everyone, just looking for some advice on trying to figure out a path forward.

I (34M) just got out of the military a few months ago. I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. I've always had a passion for computers over mechanical engineering but at the time felt like for my military field a degree in mechanical engineering would be more suitable. I still have 100% of my Post-9/11 GI Bill. I'm trying to decide if I should just continue working or head back to school for further education in computer science. I have been teaching myself programming over the past year and really have engaged with it, working on projects using mostly the PERN stack.

I just feel like I'm at an age where I should continue working, but would really love to go back to a structured learning environment learning a subject I love. In my head I feel like I need to keep working towards retirement and worry about the years of income lost if I were to go back to school. If anyone that has been in a similar situation has some advice I'd love to hear it.
