He’s a very kind man, caring, handsome, soft-spoken, a gentleman and more.

One of the things I like about him is the little things he cares about; like how many sugars I take in my coffee, the fact that I always have a bottle of water in my hand and checking for my mild allergies before we order anything, etc. .

Yesterday I told him that I have to get admitted to the hospital last-minute and he said he’d take the morning off so he can drive me there. Sweet, as always. He asked me if I need anything for the hospital. I asked for honey for my sore throat. “Done!”

Then today when he picked me up, there wasn’t a bottle of water on my side as usual, he always gets us both waters because I drink a lot. “You didn’t get me one?” “No, I just got myself one.” Sad, but no biggie.

“Did you get the honey btw?” “Oops, totally forgot.” Strange, coz he never forgets the little things, but shit happens.

We get to the hospital and he had hinted many times that he’d like to pay part/ all of the expenses. Admission asks cash or credit, he lies back, hinting that isn’t gonna happen. I immediately pull out my purse and pay since I didn’t expect him to anyway. Just strange that he insisted so much only to do this.

I put him down as my emergency contact since we’d just established last week that’s we’re serious now. Relationship: boyfriend.

His turn to fill out the emergency contact on another form… relationship with the patient: friend

Hmm… that’s it. Something’s not right. But what?

I ask him why he wrote friend rather than girlfriend. He says he “doesn’t wanna write these things on official government forms.” Yet insists afterwards that again, “we’re serious.” What’s that supposed to mean?

What am I supposed to take this to mean? Why the 360 all of a sudden?
