It seems a large number of TV and movie characters from middle school to middle aged when wearing casual attire seem to choose unbranded converse style (white sole, laces and toe caps, coloured upper) shoes. Do Americans find these shoes popular or is it a movie trope like 555 area codes and Acme products?
