Reading the question, you might go "No, they could be looking out for you", but I want you to consider the context below.

I have been searching a job for a while, and the market has been going through a slump. My father-in-law asks me whether I got something every time we meet him, which is still okay because he might be truly worried for his daughter.

But now as I do get a job, and tell him about it excitedly because it was at a company I was aiming for, he listens intently and then says "Are you sure there's an office at their address?"

I said "yes", but I was slightly annoyed by the comment as I thought it implied that I was stupid enough to not know if it was a scam. This especially crossed my mind because as I said, this company was the one that I was looking for, so obviously it wasn't something entirely unknown.

I wouldn't mind if you told me that I am overthinking it, but if you do think that it was rude, then do tell me. I won't snap or anything, just that I wouldn't be as keen on interacting with this person henceforth.
