People in some countries have some unwritten rules when driving, such as flashing their emergency lights to say "thank you" or flashing their high beams to warn others that there are police officers ahead.
I don't think I've seen anything like this here in the U.S., but maybe that's just region-specific, or I wasn't really paying enough attention.
