On social media, Americans get excited only about the university, but never the degree, they are accepted into. In Australia, the degree you get into is a big part of the prestige. For example:

“I got into Arts at Usyd” (ranked 18 by QS, above Yale and Princeton) – not ridiculously difficult

but

“I got into Usyd engineering” or “economics”, or, especially, “law” – that’s how people flex their admissions.

 Is it the same in the US, or is the university itself the only important factor?
