Do you find yourself being more careful playing it around your friend group. Do you prefer not to listen to that type of music, but enjoy it in social settings like Bars or clubs?

Maybe avoiding playing songs around a certain someone because they might get an implication from it.

  1. I think 99% of all music speaks about love.

The genres I usually listen to don’t tend to talk about sex, but as long as it’s not too gross I don’t mind. Wouldn’t listen to them with my mom or around kids, but it’s fine.

  2. It’s my preferred type of music, both to listen to and to write/make. It’s also like 80% of the music that exists, lol.

  3. I think it depends on the crowd and the vibe. Sometimes it’s best to be careful with those songs if you know it might make someone uncomfortable, but I don’t mind it in social settings like bars or clubs.

  4. I feel neutral about its existence because love and sex are very common topics for art and literature. It’s very standard and normal.

I’d venture to say that there are an awful lot of songs across nearly every genre about love or romance. There are probably songs across every genre about sex. Songs about love and romance and songs about sex are not the same thing. Depending on the content and the context, some things will be appropriate in certain situations and some things won’t.

  5. I don’t mind at all, as long as it’s not vulgar or demeaning or crass. Most songs are about love and intimacy in some form.

  6. I honestly don’t even notice most of the time – it’s not something I consider when I listen to music or when I play it.

I wouldn’t expect anybody to read anything into the playlist I put on in a social setting at all. That feels like something from a movie 😅

The only exception is if I’m hanging out with a romantic interest and one of us puts on a lot of very overtly sexual songs – but even then I wouldn’t use that as my only guide as to what’s happening.

  7. I have two songs that are attached to an ex who passed away. One is heavy emotional and the other is soft emotional. He would blast them while we would drive and sing to me. It still hurts listening to them, but it was like his way of apologizing to me. So I continue to play these songs when someone pulls me through some bs and it helps.
