My boyfriend (23m) and I (21f) have been together 2.5 years. We moved in together 6 months in. We’ve never really struggled with picking a place together before as we just chose the cheapest option. And now we’re looking for something better. For context, we have a view of a national monument that’s really cool.

My requirements- 1 bedroom, balcony, cats allowed

His requirements- balcony, cats allowed, pool, parking on site

Currently, we’re stuck between 2 choices.

I love this one that fits all of our requirements, but we would lose the view. It comes in several hundred under budget (which was set by me as he wants to go 50/50 and this is the max I can budget). It has an in unit washer and dryer, more utilities included, carpet in the bedroom, and a huge closet.

His choice is over budget, less utilities included, owned by the same horrible company we’re supposed to be getting away from, less square footage, and paying for laundry. He likes it because they have a dry cleaning service and the view. Those are his only reasons. I’ve asked a hundred different ways to find out why he thinks this is better.

How do I explain to him that his reasoning is stupid and unfeasible? This argument over where to move is getting ridiculous.

TLDR; we can’t figure out where to move because he likes the worst choice possible.
