So I (22 M) feel like i don’t have the right ‘moves’ that one should make in order to take things forward. I can carry a face-to-face conversation really well, but there’s no or little flirting involved in that and I’d like to up the ante on the flirting bit. I just don’t know how to! I get very nervous in initiating simple physical touch, thinking the other person might not be comfortable. Pls help me out!

  1. Help is easier said then done in this case. it depends on both some girls are really into physical some girls not.

So you need to find the right one I think asking stuff like can I kiss you sounds bad but is something really good

  2. When I am on a first date I will casually touch the girls forearm or back while I’m talking. I do it maybe two or three times during the entire date. At the end of the date when we walk to her car I will initiate a hug and see if she leans into it. If she does I’ll give her a kiss on the forehead or the cheek. That’s all I do. It shows that I am respectful but also shows that I am interested. Then on the second date since we have already broken the touch barrier it can escalate pretty quickly after that.

  3. What’s plenty of dates? Do you get a second date? The lack of “flirting” may not be the issue here. It could just be it’s not a good match or something else.

You don’t need any physical contact or much flirting to get a second date. Flirting is pretty broad too. Some people’s idea of flirting isn’t flirting to me or not my style.

My advice is focus on the date. Are you having a good time? Are they? Are you making eye contact? Are you making them laugh? Are you having an actual convo or just answering a list questions?

Is their body language suggesting they even desire physical contact? I find that a lot of men get in their head too much rather than focus on what’s in front of them. You shouldn’t put pressure on yourself to escalate physical touch on a first date because you’re going to be more focused on that than your date.
