From fast food joints, fast casual to high-end chains with a nationwide presence.

EDIT: don't be too literal on "nationwide presence ". Maybe multi-state presence is a better word.

  1. Five Guys. I know it’s expensive but good lord are their milkshakes superior and fries a cut above the rest.

    Pun intended.

  2. Honestly, I have to be basic and say McDonald’s. There’s plenty of other great ones that fit some particular craving I might have, but those fries are seriously among the most delicious things on earth, and I would eat them for every meal if it were reasonable from a nutritional standpoint.

  3. Shake Shack. Good burgers, excellent shakes and I remember when the first one opened about 5 blocks from me.

  4. Number one for me is Mellow mushroom. Good pizza and great spinach dip! Two is Waffle House, because it’s an institution (plus the employees and customers often make it into a value priced dinner theater).

  5. 15 comments so far and nobody has said Taco Bell. You’re lying to yourselves, America. Whether you’re from the north east, south west, Deep South, middle America or somewhere in between – we all want to Live más.

  6. Boston Market. Mac and cheese and cornbread. Somehow, Bostonians took a southern staple, and made it better. I’d be upset, but it’s too damn good.

Never been to Boston but if Boston Market is anything to go by, I should.

  7. Might not be the best. But i love eating good in the neighborhood. I know exactly what im getting its cheap and consistent every time

  8. Morton’s steakhouse, I just really like their side options with my steak and they tend to make really good drinks.

  9. IHOP. Because their pancakes are bomb. Especially right now because they have pumpkin spice pancakes. 🤤

  10. I’m a burgers guys so shake shack, or actually Red Robin has some bomb ass burgers.

In case you were actually thinking more along the lines of fast food…. Checkers is where it’s at

  11. Probably outing myself as a basic bitch here, but I really like Panera Bread. Their broccoli cheddar soup is awesome, their bread is baked fresh every day, and I prefer their drip coffee to pretty much any other chain’s.

Honorable mentions to Waffle House and Steak ‘n’ Shake.

  12. I love Red Lobster for their crab alfredo and their cheddar biscuits. The one near me closed and I miss it.

I also miss Pizza Hut buffets. All of the Pizza Huts
in my area are now all take-out/delivery only.

  13. Chick fil a is the only fast food place where the food is consistently good and the people are consistently nice to you

  14. “Nationwide” is going to make it tough. Half the answers you’re getting are regional.

I’m gonna go with Chili’s. It’s truly nationwide and it’s usually solid for a nationwide sit down restaurant.

  15. Five Guys is expensive as fuck but man they do a good burger. Applebee’s is the supreme chain restaurant though

  16. Tim Horton’s. Just kidding, Canada…

Probably Red Lobster. I know it isn’t great sea food, but its at least generally dependable seafood.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal at Longhorn Steakhouse. It’s nothing too fancy, just reliable and decently priced. I find the fancier steak chains, like Morton’s or Ruth Chris don’t really make a better steak, they just give you a much bigger one for disproportionally more money.

  17. There are so many regional chains mentioned here that I wish were national! Like, I really want to have a Waffle House option nearby.

  18. Whenever I’m in the area, Waffle House is always my favorite. I also love Bojangles and am dying to have them around me. Of the stuff around me probably Chick Fil A, Culver’s, or Jersey Mikes.

  19. McDonald’s. They’ve perfected the art of human food creation, with their cheeseburgers being its pinnacle. I truly can’t think of a better food

  20. I realize I will get pushback…but Burger King…Whpper, or the Original Chicken sandwich, are both awesome…w a side of Onion Rings as well. Washed down w a nice cold Dr Pepper…That is good eating.

  21. Burger King I know it is not everyone’s favorite thing but I can never turn down a whopper maybe even if you put it in the toilet.

  22. Pappadeaux, soooo good for a chain
culvers for the burgers and cheese curds
bojangles for the best fried chicken

  23. Cook out. The amount of food you can get for under $7-8 is unmatched. They’ve also got the thickest milkshakes I’ve ever encountered. Not to mention there’s forty flavors
