I’m 38, and my 33 yr old boyfriend criticized me for being the slowest shopper he knows after doing groceries for the week. I spent about an hour total. He was extremely annoyed and said that I have a serious character flaw: my slowness, though I beg to differ.

I cook all of my meals (and some of his) while he helps on occasion. As a result, I buy twice as much groceries as him. I use a cart ,and he uses a basket. During checkout today, I struggled with juggling scanning, inputing barcodes and putting items into 3 bags, and he just waited outside instead of helping.

Earlier, I waited patiently while he spent good time choosing plant pots at Home Depot. I feel this is a double standard. He likely felt impatient because he's preoccupied with sports betting and can't be away from a TV or computer for very long. He stores all his betting data/stats on his computer.

It feels unfair, knowing that I would have been more patient and helpful if the roles were reversed. Unfortunately, we share his mom's car, so I can't shop alone, as I'm not on their insurance.

I’d appreciate any support or advice. Thanks in advance.
